... for using my own art in a thumbnail and not explicitly saying so. Same icon as I'm using on this post, only a bit bigger. The fic that was reported is already back up, but... wow.

Should I be flattered that someone thought it was too good to be mine so I must've stolen it? I don't see how one "dude, you forgot to cite the thumbnail" message wouldn't have fixed this, otherwise.

I had no idea that you actually draw this yourself. You are very talented :) I don't know what Y! is, but it's stupid to report someone instead of messaging the person first. Glad your stuff is back up.
Holiday Cheers!

Dude, that's not cool. As you said, people should at least MESSAGE the person they want to report to get the story before actually reporting them.

That's what I don't get, either. If you just look at crab > submissions, the line art's still in the most recent. It doesn't take any digging through the archives. Is it really so unfathomable that someone might color just a cropped icon without submitting a whole colored piece? Of course, the PM telling me why it was in violation of the rules was amusing. The first thing it said was "you are not allowed to use official artwork for icons". Official? This?! If Squeenix is making their own yaoi art, I'll be scouring google for it all day! I know it's just one of four types you can't use, but being the lead-off just struck me like a backhanded compliment.

This has been my weirdest Christmas ever.

o_o wtf.
Shouldn't it just be assumed that you'd use your own work unless otherwise stated?

I would've thought so, too, unless it was one of those fic icons that look obviously cut down from a manga page or taken from a anime screenshot, but apparently others have been big enough dicks about swipe now and credit later that people now assume that if it isn't credited in the A/N, it's stolen. I always remember to add 'thumbnail=me' on my serial fics; no idea why it slipped my mind this time, but damned if someone didn't use a crossbow to make their point when poking me with a stick would've done the job.

Personaly, I'm just not fond of this whole 'you need to cite the thumbnail, even if it's your own work' bull anyway.
