One of the things that sucks about having a mostly fortunate existence is that, when trouble does arise, other people still have more dire and legitimate problems, which makes me sound like a whiny maggot for not having a smile and a ready cheer for everyone else. Well, I'm pissed today, and I'm going to wallow in my whiny-maggot-ness for a while.

I'm having to borrow my mom's laptop because mine is dead. It won't even boot up. (whir, beep, *die*, repeat perpetually and uninterruptably until the battery is pulled.) The nearest computer repair place won't be open again until Monday. I have Photoshop and Milkshape projects in progress on the damned thing that haven't been saved to my external hard drive yet, including the sim unicorn horn accesories that I'd just gotten to work for the first time yesterday.

My Presario's been having troubles for a while - it no longer recognizes that it has a sound card or a DVD-rom installed - but the total shut-down is a rather drastic sign that these things can't be worked around any longer. I'm sorely tempted to ask how much more it would cost to wipe Vista and put XP pro on it while they're working on it, and hell, I got those horns working once; I could conceivably do it again. Fuck - but there are about five finished sets of object recolors and about 300+ game screenshots that haven't been backed up nor uploaded anywhere. Shit, and my newest chapter to Welcome Home hasn't been backed up, either! DAMMIT.

I've only played my Midgar neighborhood once or twice since I last backed it up, but damn it, I want to keep the baby Aleron that was born! It's a boy with Lazard's eyes, and I don't know the odds of that happening again!

So, yeah. Fretting. Angry. Getting nothing done for about a week. AAARRRGGGHH.

I know exactly what you mean. My life is pretty good compared to most of my friends', and I feel like a shit whenever I complain to them because my problems are so petty beside theirs.

Anyway, I hope you get your computer in order quickly.

I hope everything gets fixed up soon for you. My previous laptop - Kadaj, a Dell Latitude - is still capable of running... he just doesn't recognize any form of mouse input other than mouse keys. *minor glare* Which is why I'm much happier with my new Toshiba, Deusericus. I also had an issue with my Sims 2 going haywire on me a while back, but luckily a reinstall fixed it and I was able to restore my backed up neighborhoods.
